RENOVATION OF A FAMILY HOME. A HOUSE FROM 1967 IS RETHOUGHT WITH A PROJECT THAT RESPECTS MEMORY.
A semi-detached house with a large garden, located in the province of Varese, has been profoundly revisited in its internal spaces and envelope. The building acquires a new life while respecting the memory of a home full of memories.
The interiors are redesigned looking at contemporary living. The spaces are made more comfortable with particular attention to distribution, finishes and systems. A large studio / library is the heart of the ground floor, next to a small guest apartment with living room and kitchen, double bedroom, walk-in closet and master bathroom. Upstairs, the master apartment consists of a kitchen, living room, two private studios, double bedroom, walk-in closet and bathroom. By modifying the existing entrance, a bathroom in the living area, absent before, finds now room in the new distribution.
The envelope is redesigned by adding a wooden “skin”, climbing plants and a reconfiguration of the solid and void ratio of the facades. Some windows are ennobled by metal frames that highlight the opening and are now provided with a new sliding door darkening system. A generously sized photovoltaic system – more than 12kW peak – is added to the equipment system of this house.
The house renovation project is completed by the study of the garden by Olos Atelier, specialized in landscape architecture.
