REBUILD TO SIMPLIFY
The project finds space in land in the province of Varese with the initial intention of renovating an old three-storey house and transforming it into two residential units: a two-room apartment on the ground floor and a more spacious one on two levels.
The land develops along the east/west axis and offers a spectacular panoramic view, which is naturally a fundamental element of our design. Considering that the cost of a radical renovation would have been excessive for building from scratch (with all the constraints and compromises of a renovated building), it was decided to completely demolish the existing building and build a new building, with a more compact volume. and elegant that contains all the comforts of a contemporary home.
The new proposal includes an entrance to the east, enlarged compared to the original, with a driveway that leads directly to the car park on the north-west side and a pedestrian one that leads directly to the entrance of the two units. The first extends over a portion of the ground floor and the entire first floor of the building, while the second is arranged on a single level.
A central strip serves all the spaces of the two residences, which are abundantly illuminated by natural light and directly overlook the surrounding panorama. On the ground floor of the larger unit there is only the kitchen and dining room, while the bedrooms and living room are located on the upper floor. The daytime spaces are oriented towards the south and west to make the most of the most beautiful views and enjoy abundant light. On the east side, however, the bedrooms were positioned to take advantage of the dawn light and open onto a further panoramic view.
The smaller apartment faces south-east, with a small outdoor space but protected by green elements that guarantee privacy and delimit contact with the road and the car park.
Casa OM is an example of how the simplicity of volumes can give life to a perfect architectural project to accommodate daily life.
