A NEW VOLUME IN DIALOGUE WITH THE LANDSCAPE
The building is located in Bodio, a small town in the province of Varese with a beautiful view of the lake and Monte Rosa.
The aim of the project is the recovery of the attic of a single-family house and becomes also an opportunity to investigate the theme of the relationship between existing and new construction and the relationship with the context.
The project escapes all sorts of mimicry and is configured as a compact wooden volume in dialogue with the natural environment.
This element is carved by firstly giving an inclination to the roof and, subsequently, by subtracting matter.
The volume, hermetic and completely covered in bamboo wood, is crossed by a transverse cut that gives the building two terraces and large openings onto the surrounding landscape.
The windows and skylights placed on the roof bring natural light into the home, while at the same time creating a strong relationship between the artificial volume and the natural environment of the garden.
